The month of May was full of healing at Michigan Center for Functional Medicine!
Dr. McSwain focused on healing chronic pain in a Facebook LIVE series. In this series, she discussed healing chronic pain with the Therapeutic Order.
The Therapeutic Order is the grouping of therapies into categories from least invasive to most invasive. Less invasive therapies have lower risks and fewer side effects, but can take longer to work. More invasive therapies may work faster but have higher risks and can have severe side effects.
The items within the white outline are so incredibly important, and many parts of them are also DIY. Yes, that means they are things that you can do yourself! Consider this - if you have the knowledge to heal yourself, you wouldn't ever feel the need for surgery or pharmaceuticals! Surgery and pharmaceutical medications are life-saving in severe conditions, but they should be used as a last resort. Ideally, you and your physician would create your personalized plan starting with the lowest possible level based on the severity of your condition. Many people start with pharmaceutical medications or surgery because it’s quicker and easier, or perhaps they don't have the knowledge to DIY. Dr. McSwain wants to give you the knowledge.
